10 Years Ecuador Poster Bienal

QUITO, REMEMBERED In 2018 I travelled to Quito for the Ecuador Poster Bienal; a trip I still remember very fondly. So when I was invited to create a poster for the Bienal’s 10th anniversary, I immediately said yes. Looking through my photo archive from that time, I rediscovered some of the hand-cut and sprayed lettering I had photographed in the streets of Quito. One image in particular, a simple “NO PARQUEAR MOTOS” sign, became the starting point for the poster. I reconstructed the letterforms, cut the stencils by hand and sprayed the entire poster. Bringing a small piece of Quito from eight years ago back to life.
