Die grosse Menschenschau

Poster for Die grosse Menschenschau (The Great Human Show), a rather unusual festival at Neubad in Lucerne, Switzerland. Instead of celebrating extraordinary talents, the festival puts some of society’s most controversial and unsettling characters on display. A contemporary freak show where the curiosities are not physical oddities, but the people, their beliefs and their worldviews. For the poster, I took inspiration from historical sideshows and cabinets of curiosities, translating their exaggerated visual language into a contemporary typographic spectacle. Distorted letters, endless lines and optical illusions turn the title itself into the main attraction.
